4:00pm The Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton Street - Doors open at 3:30. Join us for a special screening of REAP THE WILD WIND, written by Thelma Strabel, on Wednesday, April 2, the day before the formal opening of the Key West Historic Days Celebration. Thelma was so enamored with Key West and its history that in 1940 she bought a house in Key West. Dr. Corey Malcom, Historian at the Florida Keys History Center in the Monroe County Library, will introduce the historic Key West Film Series sponsored by the Monroe County Library while providing context on the film’s historical relevance. Dr. Marlene Thorn of the Key West Woman’s Club will then introduce the week’s events of the Key West Historic Days Celebration.

Historical Preservation: The Key West Woman’s Club is dedicated to preserving its historic home and clubhouse, the Hellings Curry Museum. As stewards of this important piece of Key West’s history, they ensure the building remains a cultural and historical landmark for future generations.
The Hellings Curry Museum and home to the
Key West Woman’s Club building received recognition in 2023 by the National Historic Preservation Board. The building, one of the few privately owned mansions remaining on historic Duval Street is sustained by the continuous efforts of the members of the Key West Woman’s Club.
